I have never had much interest in computers. In my younger years of education when computers had been growing its popularity, I used to doodle away in my notebook while the teacher tries to explain to us the different parts of the computer, how they function, etc. How I wish I had paid attention.

I needed to buy myself a laptop for my work. So I stepped in a shop to check which one I should buy. I was assisted by a seller and he started pointing me to laptops which has this Processor with certain amount of GHz capacity, asked me about an OS that I prefer, what size of RAM, and the only thing I had a slight idea about was the Hard Drive. The seller as well advised me of the option to custom build your laptop with HP Pavilion DV7 series. He then went on to ask me about the same questions.

I excused myself and advised him that I would think about it some more. I checked on the internet the moment I got home and I found on my screen the same things the seller had mentioned. The print of numbers combined with letters did not make sense to me. I was seeing GHz, MB DDR3 and I had no idea what they were.

Lucky for me I had a friend who has some knowledge about computers. She explained to me that I only needed to pay attention to these four things in computers, their Processor, OS, RAM and Hard Drive. Good thing somebody still listens in their class.

The Processors in computers takes care of processing everything you do in it. To check on how fast your processor works you need to look at its GHz or Giga Hertz capacity. The higher the GHZ capacity the better and faster your laptop is. If you are heavy in graphics then the Processor should have a higher GHz capacity.

The OS ultimately is the program that makes your laptop function. The OS, which by the way stand for Operating System allows you to install all the other programs that you would need in your laptop. Again for people who works with graphics it is better that you get the latest version of this program. If your work would mostly entail writing or tasks done in Office programs, it would be okay to settle for the versions that came out before.

Your RAM stores all the currently accessed programs. To simplify this you just need to remember that every time you open a program or file a RAM amount is being used. Different programs require different amount of RAM space. Those programs with heavy graphics will use up more space, as well as websites with heavy graphics such as social networks like Facebook, Twitter, etc. When all the RAM space is used up your laptop will hang or slow down.

The Hard Drive works as a storage unit same as the RAM. However everything you have in your computer is stored here permanently or temporarily. Materials generated form Graphics program takes up more space in your hard drive than files created from Text programs.

With this knowledge I already have a list of how I want to customize the HP Pavilion DV7 laptop. This HP DV7 series is a great offer as you can modify your laptop to function fully for your tasks.
